When the software and Word plugin work together properly, it can save time and improve consistency in citation formatting. > > **Inconvénients**: My current experience with EndNote 20 has been very frustrating. I purchased EndNote 20 and expected to continue using it, especially for basic functions such as working with Microsoft Word. However, after changing my computer, EndNote 20 no longer works properly with Word. The Cite While You Write function does not communicate properly with my Word documents, which makes the software difficult to use for its main purpose. What is most disappointing is that the apparent solution seems to be upgrading to a newer version, such as EndNote 25. I do not want to pay again for a new version simply because I changed my computer. A purchased software license should remain functional, especially when the user is not asking for new features, only for the version they already paid for to continue working. I am baffled by this experience. EndNote should support researchers and professionals, not create unnecessary technical barriers or pressure users into paid upgrades.
