CATMA is a great tool for this purpose that has been developed already for many years and provides thus necessary stability for academic projects. > > **Inconvénients**: My main issue for me is that I cannot change the text once I upload it. This is the main reason why I don't use CATMA as often as I would like to. These comprise |"annotation categories" This is useful for obtaining a clearer idea of the structure. CATMA uses an "undogmatic" approach which allows use of inductive ground-up methodology. The user adds codes as themes appear in the data, a process that will lead to the emergence of conceptual categories that can later be assembled to form theory. CATMA 6 allows collaboration to annotate and analyze projects. > > **Inconvénients**: \#1. It is a "cloud" application and this is problematic in many ways. Firstly, as of March 18 2021, there's a serious login problem on CATMA which is preventing me from accessing and working on my project. I was unable to access to yesterday and today. Secondly, Most computer users in the developing world do not have access to reliable internet connections. Thirdly, online "cloud" performance is slow and frustrating. All of these problems would be solved if CATMA were an installable application. \#2. CATMA could be far more useful to social science students and researchers worldwide by offering more standard QDA (qualitative data analysis) functions and features. The software already has the foundation for functioning as a QDA, it just needs additional features. This would likely increase the user base 10-fold and bring in collaborators and funds. > > The query builder in CATMA is relatively easy to use and allows users to analyse the text in various ways. However, the software is overly focused on literary text analysis and not enough to making CATMA more useful as a general Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA) tool.
