Avis sur PDQ Deploy & Inventory
Super outil
Avantages :
Efficace, rapide, sans interaction avec les clients
Inconvénients :
Il faut y consacrer du temps pour le prendre en main correctement
Really easy to used
Avantages :
Really easy to used platform to deploy softwares and patch
Inconvénients :
Sometimes need some search to have good silent deploy
Cheap solution for cheap LAN only use-cases
Commentaires : I am overall happy regarding the needs that we currently have. Absolutely not good enough for modern and especially mobile cloud-based infrastructures though.
Avantages :
Block programming approach to defining the deployments and inventory. Really in-depth access to the OS that can read whatever you can think of with an ease. Visualisation of the results is not possible though.
Inconvénients :
No mobility support, no cloud, no dashboards, nothing. Users cannot interact with any deployment in any other way than by pressing OK. UX level cca when Greenday lead the hitparades.
PDQ Deploy anomalies
Avantages :
Simplify server management Saves on me sign in multiple times Repeat task on remote machines
Inconvénients :
These features seem inconsistent: - Say you want to run a number on commands on a number of servers you cannot get a combined report of the output of all the commands. Often this is needed as the report may be input into further tools - You should be able to set default credentials for each computer you add manually which can be overridden from 'deploy one' - You should be able to group a group of computers like a tree structure eg. directory structure in Windows or UNIX - Computers should be able to be a member of more than one group. When you add a known computer to another group it should copy all these properties as default starting point - In new package, you should have the ability to not have to choose a step type but the commands the user types in most cases tell you what type of step it is
We love PDQ Deploy because its cheap, easy to use, and it just works
Commentaires : We've had a great experience. We love their YouTube channel tips, and the product is easy to figure out.
Avantages :
We like the fact that they create so many patches and software deployment packages on their end. It saves us so much time, and it just works. I haven't had a single issue with the software and it's very cost effective.
Inconvénients :
When we first set up the inventory scanning, we kicked it off and it almost locked up the server we installed the software on. We are a large environment so it doesn't surprise me, but it did take a long time, and I wasn't sure if it was going to work for awhile. We ended up leaving over a weekend to scan though, and it ended up figuring itself out.
Perfect for mid-tier patch management
Avantages :
It's easy to create groups of servers that may need to be patched at different times based on usage. That also makes it easy to manage which patches are most important depending on server usage. i.e. is it connected to the Internet or not.
Inconvénients :
The biggest pain point is that it does not support Linux servers.

Great Product
Commentaires : It has been great. It is easy to use and navigate. It makes it easy to push out patches and software to computers. We no longer have to go to each computer to install products. The built in Vendors is such a great feature and one I use often, it saves me from having to go out and down load software from the Vendor constantly!
Avantages :
It is easy to use and makes my job more efficient.
Inconvénients :
I would like the Deploy and Inventory products in one interface. I understand though that people may only want one of the products. It would be nice to have them integrated together for those that use both products.
PDQ - SysAdmin's Dream!
Commentaires : All I can say is that I wish I had found this product sooner. As a 1 man band at a company of 150 users this makes my life so much easier and gives me a great overall view of what's on my network. 10/10 recommend.
Avantages :
Where to start! Love the preconfigured Collections that lets us know about which most common applications are out of date, and then we can literally right-click and Select PDQ Deploy to update them.Very easy program to use and I love the reporting side of it.
Inconvénients :
There could be more commonly used Reports straight out of the box, but not that big of a deal as it's easy to create your own and run against a collection.
Quick overview of your installed assets and their software inventory
Commentaires : We maintain the latest Security patches for applications and deploy where necessary. It's important to run latest version of software.
Avantages :
We can easily see all of our connected hardware in one overview, Windows version, build version etc. It's great you can update packages installed on devices and see which are outdated or got the latest version you accepted. You can use the inventory and copy the devices easily and use them in PDQ deploy.
Inconvénients :
If devices run at home it's hardware to track them and obtain updates. Once they connect back in the office it starts to work again or you have to setup VPN which is possible too.
The one thing you got to have
Commentaires : Used it at previous job, and when I came discovered they had a competitor. Tried to learn the competitor's patch management and device management. It was a headache and time consuming. Got the boss to purchase PDQ and right of the bat, everyone could use it quickly and efficiently without reading a 100 page pdf on how to use it. So intuitive and easy to use. I use it daily to manage my computers and make sure everything is up to date. Boss has come to me a couple times asking for a list of XYZ, and expecting that it is a project for the rest of the day, I'm able to get that to him within the hour, sometimes in ten minutes.
Avantages :
the dynamic collections you can make has been life changing. Able to create one on the fly and it continue to update and tell me if new computers have something unwanted on it, or computers that are missing important programs. I use it daily to check things. I also use it to quickly remote into computers. I have computers on the road and I have to jump in there sometimes remotely and need to be able to look at software lists quickly and a couple clicks my remote software is already connected. Or I can use pdq deploy to shoot out a program update or install something new. PDQ Deploy has all the right switches and knows exactly what to do with files to silently deploy practically anything. Testing is simple and easy and usually I have it tested and deployed within an hour. Saves me time everyday to quickly do what I need to do and have time to work on other projects. Support is also a godsend. Quick, easy, and friendly to the max!
Inconvénients :
Not much that I do not like. The new icons are weird and there are some bugs in pdq deploy that get updates stuck and they just sit in the list forever. Usually when I have a con come up in my mind, I find out that the feature request I thought of, is already in the system some where.
Perfect for a small shop
Commentaires : I took over at a small/medium firm that did not have any type of deployment software in place. I had experience with the free version of PDQ Deploy years ago at another small business and new that it would be at least worth trying it here. After creating a good service account with the correct permissions, I was rolling out test deployments with ease. Now, I use it every day either deploying software or finding new things to setup.
Avantages :
- Easy to set up- Easy to use- Small infrastructure footprint- Low resource needs- Helpful community- Fits needs of a small business
Inconvénients :
I can not think of any negatives currently.
Want to look like a Admin Superstar? PDQ is the only way.
Commentaires : A big piece from the management side is being able to quickly true-up or massive Microsoft E5 licensing and pricing. The hardest port of using PDQ is teaching HD staff all of the powerful things that can be accomplished with the combination of Inventory and Deploy.
Avantages :
Ease of use, integration with other tools, price, functionality, the overall stability of both Inventory and Deploy and the integration of the two products.
Inconvénients :
They ONLY thing that I have found no way to do that would make things perfect, is to be able to pass a computer name or IP address variable to a custom PowerShell script or custom scanner.
Excellent Deployment and Installation Tool
Commentaires : Was able to install products that GPOs couldn't. Was able to discretely target systems, or initiate a sitewide roll-out.
Avantages :
Many options for setting up install and deploy routines. Automatically refreshed network inventory. Active Directory Integration. Ability to target by queries, OUs or just about anything.Good integration between the prodcts (Deploy and Inventory). Good reporting.
Inconvénients :
Can be kind of daunting for new users. A bit slow sometimes.
3rd anniversary of using PDQ Deploy & Inventory
Commentaires : All patches, updates and upgrades are resolved very quickly and in addition your support is very fast and friendly. I am very happy that I chose PDQ.
Avantages :
It is very easy to install and using. You can choose if you want client/server or local mode.Has got many (maybe all) softwares for daily use.
Inconvénients :
I haven not find anything like that yet.
Patching my network
Commentaires : Overall PDQ Deploy has helped me bring my patching solution on several networks up to date. It is just so much easier to use that other products I have tried over the years. I would highly recommend this product to anyone needed to keep networks up to date.
Avantages :
I absolutely love the ease and usage of PDQ Deploy. The product does almost everything I can ask of it in a very easy to use package.
Inconvénients :
The only con I can think of is that I get hit with a lot of hits on my Vulnerability scans for Microsoft Office products. I know it would be difficult, but it would be nice if Office patches were included in the Package Library.
Absolute life-saver if you're an admin
Commentaires : Deploying software, copying files, changing Windows settings, rebooting, those are all things I accomplish with PDQ that I would have to do one by one on each PC otherwise.
Avantages :
PDQ can do literally anything you can think of on Windows PCs you manage. Installing, copying files, executing Powershell, etc. I mean if you can execute Powershell remotely what is there you cannot do?
Inconvénients :
Honestly can't really think of anything I don't like about this software. It even has dark mode for ultimate eye comfort, so I cannot complain.
Your ServiceDesks best friend.
Commentaires : Amazing, PDQ Deploy has been an outstanding piece of software that we could never live without.
Avantages :
PDQ is an amazing tool that I could not live without, it provides the helpdesk with one click installation of custom MSI packages, pre-built MSI packages to make software deployment a breeze. It has built in scheduling to ensure all machines across our entire network have all the right software and are always up to date. It was an absolute breeze to set up and we were up and running within a couple of hours. Support has always been next level with detailed responses about almost any question we throw at them.
Inconvénients :
I don't like how vague some of the error messages can be on deployment when it fails but these are usually Windows errors that PDQ is simply feeding back.
PDQ Deply and Inventory
Commentaires : As stated above, this has made my monthly patching much easier and also allowed me to auto patch more apps than just Windows updates. I have also built out auto deployment packages that I use when settin gup new machines. I add them to my domain, Inventory picks them up on scan and adds them to a dynamic collection, Deploys heartbeat deployment for that collection pushes out the preconfigured list of apps/packages and generates a message on each machine when finished.
Avantages :
Tried this out after some frustration with SCCM. While the MS product was getting my monthly patch Tuesday stuff covered, it felt a little complicated to manage. With PDQ deploy, it feels much easier, plus im now getting windows patches as well as patching many other apps(Chrome, edge, 7-zip, VLC, etc.) in what I feel is a much more user friendly and intuitive interface.
Inconvénients :
Has built-in support for VNC for remote control which I don't currently use. I'll be making the switch but wish there were other options.
Great software
Avantages :
Just the ease of use and being able to build my own packages that fit our company
Inconvénients :
just how heavily the software relies on DNS to find machines.
Great patch management software
Commentaires : Love it! I use it constantly every day.
Avantages :
The automatic scanning of your entire network, seeing what software and software versions you have on each machine, and being able to automatically patch those machines to the latest software updates.
Inconvénients :
There really isn't anything I don't like about it.
PDQ - A must have tool
Commentaires : Fantastic. This tool saves our staff time and money. The team who created it have built something that has become a staple in our IT toolbox.
Avantages :
The ability to push out software updates, add/remove files remotely, and ease of managment.
Inconvénients :
We'd like to see more templates for more common software deployments and tasks, but the team is working on adding those on a regular basis.
Automate Those Boring Installs!
Avantages :
Do you have that software that just takes ages to install with a billion prompts? What if I told you that you don't have to push more then 2 buttons? PDQ Deploy makes it sooo easy to mess with an installer one time and then you just deploy it out to your hearts content. Out of all the software we use this one is an easy win for me.
Inconvénients :
I have no cons about PDQ Deploy itself. If I ever have issues it's the software provider not providing the silent install switches. Luckily PDQ Deploy has a robust support forum where people typically have found them for you :)
Alternatives envisagées :
Must have part of large network
Commentaires : I've used it for a large portion of my career. Always been essential.
Avantages :
The multitude of deployment options. Built in or downloadable uninstalls for almost everything. Running powershell commands on 2000 pcs couldn't be easier.
Inconvénients :
Sometimes I wish there was a client option for the occasional DNS issues.
Outstanding software, low priced and perfect for schools
Commentaires : I originally started with the free version but quickly found I needed to upgrade to the paid version including inventory, it was the best move I ever did.
Avantages :
The price is perfect for schools that have had their budgets slashed and still very affordable
Inconvénients :
I would like some sort of training on setting up pdq with MDT, my current workflow is to roll out the base windows image using wds, the I push the rest of the software installs via pdq deploy
Perfect Swiss Knife
Commentaires : PDQ allowed us for our medium-sized company to have a professional patch as well as deployment process. When users call as and tell as they need this and this special software and while we talk to them, we are able to deploy it to their computers, they are always very positively surprised by our excellent service. This is what PDQ allows us to do!We needed the support in 2 years 2 times. Answers were always quick and of good quality. We could solve all issues so far.
Avantages :
1) LAPS Support2) LAPS Support3) LAPS Support!!!!PDQ is the only deployment + update tool which does support LAPS. Even Microsofts own tools do not support LAPS. This is major game changer and big thank you to PDQ that they invested into security by supporting LAPS.- 3rd Party + Microsoft Update Library- Easy deployment of new software- Fair pricing- Very easy to use, also for Juniors- Excellent documentation
Inconvénients :
Missing Agent for updates.Windows Release Upgrades not supported
