The alternative requires hardware connected directly to vehicle OBD ports. In some cases, this has actually caused problems with vehicle on board software which the manufacturer blamed on the device itself. When you have the ability to mount the device to the windshield the solar cell removes practically all maintenance concerns of individual vehicles. Someone doesn't even have to be driving near by. It also blocks all notifications and clears them so you have no knowledge when you stop. I once had a fraudulent charge on a credit card that I learned of due to a notification on my phone. If I had truce on my phone at the time I wouldn't have learned about it in time and been out thousands of dollars. This app is for people who think they live in a perfect world. Fine block people from making calls while driving, nothing wrong with that. But that's where it should end.
