Maybe it would be useful if your tax situation was more simple than any business that I am involved in. > > **Inconvénients**: Support routinely drops calls between second and third transfer. No direct line for TurboTax Business so first stop is someone to validate you, second stop is first level support, who is unable to answer questions such as, where is cost basis entered, how do I enter foreign tax as an investment expense. The tool appears to have been built in 1989. No ability to import information from a brokerage account. Even worse. There is no ability to enter a 1099 (a 1099 has simple numbered boxes, but TurboTax business does not, nor do they use the same or even similar terms and as I found out after a 2 hour call there simply is no way to enter foreign tax expenses into TurboTax business for a partnership). The above is for an investment pool for my elderly parents structured as a Partnership, so it will be able to receive a stepup basis when they pass away so that they can seamlessly transfer assets to their grandchildren. I say this to point out that a lack of 1099 support for Partnerships is likely impacting a significant number of users. Finally. This entity started as a LLC type S, when attempting to convert to an LLC Partnership it was found that the entire business needed to be reentered. I understand that many of the forms for Type S and Partnership are different, but the preamble is not (company name, address. EIN, partner names, SSNs, addresses - this rework took about 2 hours). Last but not least, I took over the process of filing an 1120s from my accountant this year. Completed and filed my 1120s, upon reviewing my K-1 I found that I had no basis from 2024, which shouldn't be surprising since I didn't enter it, but what was frustrating was 1) it ended up being very difficult to find where to enter it 2) it is not acceptable that one needs to hunt thru the forms to enter it (there is no question asking for instance, do you have a basis from previous years to enter). > > Time consuming to reach the appropriate support (multiple transfers for each discussion. Often ending in a disconnect between the second and third support specialist). Poorly designed user interface with limited functionality. Nothing like my experience with TurboTax on my individual tax return. I chose TurboTax Business because I thought it too would be user friendly, functional and well supported.
