Different workflow takes some time to get used to.
NX CAE Review
Avantages :
The ting i most like about the software is the capability to have the chance to model, design and simulate 3D parts. Overall is a good software.
Inconvénients :
Compared to other softwares, the CAE aspect is a little bit weak, p.e. the mesh option is not the fastest on the market, neither the one who offers a simple interface.
Its a CAD workhorse
Commentaires : I use NX 8 to do all of my 3D modelling and engineering drawings. Most items are simple enough to figure out. Its is very order specific on its operations which can be frustrating for some, but I feel it gives me more control to the thinking rather than letting the computer assume it knows what I want. There are more options available for modelling than other softwares and the layering feature really helps me keep my models and drawings clean.
Avantages :
This software is able to do most anything that I want it to do. It can handle simple modelling of single components all the way through complex moving assemblies. It especially seems to excel at surface modelling like articular surfaces of joint replacements.
Inconvénients :
Some of its features like flows and sweeps are frustrating to learn and use. Operations are very order specific (which I like on other features) but the directions are fairly vague and aren't intuitive to figure out.
Siemens NX8 is a great way to analyze NX CAD models or assemblies for stress and deflection
Commentaires : Using NX8 CAE allowed me to load and constrain CAD models and assemblies, to know how much stress and deflection the designs were seeing. The Mesher is quick and there many options. Manually defining welds with connector meshes is actually efficient because everything is known and defined by the user, whereas auto weld/connectors may overconstrain a part and produce inaccurate results. Correlation between real-world failures and NX8 CAE was good, so there was confidence in the designs released. It is very thorough, capable software, but the price tag is high and Siemens have to realize that companies like SimSolid are producing equally capable software, for similar applications, at a fraction of the price, hence recommending is about neutral.
Avantages :
NX8 CAE is structured with three files: your Idealized Part, your FEM , and your SIM. The idealized part is nice because it is linked to your CAD part, but it's just a representation of it. You can tune it and remove features without affecting your original part. The FEM contains the mesh, and the SIM contains the loads and constraints. Not all analysis software compartmentalizes everything this way, but I think it's a good job and keeps things organized, which not all software does. Meshing is quite quick compared to other software. Before NX CAE, I was an I-DEAS FEA user, and find it much more modern than that.
Inconvénients :
SIM file run times can be a bit slow at times. If a run fails, not much information is given, and you have to sift through a long, cumbersome results file. Establishing contact definition between parts is cumbersome. The graphics and selection functions for loads and constraints could do with better graphics for added clarity.
Best computer aided designing and manufacturing software
Avantages :
Nx 8 CAE is one of the best software for mechanical engineers helps in designing and simulation of the models. Easy to design complex designs with high precision. Easy to perform analysis of the designs like stress analysis and heat transfer analysis to check the durability of product. Supports importing cad files from other softwares is a great feature.
Inconvénients :
No issues. Needs proper training for the best use. Customer support need to be improved.
A good CAD software tool for modeling and assembly.
Commentaires : Modelling and assemblies through CAD software tool made easy.
Avantages :
In model tab we can preset the dimension according to our standard which will followed through out the modeling process. In sketching after completion of sketch, user can constrain the line as per user convenient which helps in alter in dimension if user need to change dimension. In drafting from 3D model to 2D model user are allowed to choose different views of the model and selection of different size of sheets is helpful.
Inconvénients :
User interface is need improve the accessible of tools easily. NX 8 CAE is bit bulk software for lower end laptop and PC. It should not allow user to continue the modelling or assembly process if there is an error in design process.
NX 8 CAE
Commentaires : Highly recommended for professional engineers. If you are in college, try to learn this software since it will add a valuable skill in your career.
Avantages :
This is the best software for a Design Engineer. If you are a Design or a Mechanical Engineer, this software will take your design to the next level. Is a powerful software to create your CADs. Also, you can use it to simulate your design. For example, stress analysis, heat transfer, etc. Moreover, it helps you to determine the best manufacturing process for your part.
Inconvénients :
The downside of the software is that doesn't have enough tutorial for all the feature that this software can you. You need to look at videos or other sources to learn and understand how to do your part. I will add tutorials or videos as a guide.
Alternatives envisagées :
A one-stop shop for CAE
Commentaires : Our customers that came from other CAD tools were happy to find in NX a solid CAD interface, and all the other functions (coatings, validation tools, logic editor..) have been a helpful addition.
Avantages :
The sheer number of CAE features, their usefulness, and the overall completeness, especially in the lastest versions
Inconvénients :
The learning curve is a bit steep. While it provides tons of features, integrating them with some more specific tools can be tricky.
It is a useful software in mechanical engineering
Avantages :
The software allows modeling, simulation and design for many topics in mechanical engineering and others fileds
Inconvénients :
It is an expensive software, the technical support is late. This require a previous knowledge for use it.
NX 8 CAE - Review
Avantages :
Perfect GUIEasy to useProcess modeling very intuitive
Inconvénients :
It requieres a powerfull computerNew addons could be implementedLimited software tutorial
Excellent CAD/CAM software
Commentaires : I really liked the program after I learned to use it with more practice. I create CNC programs that facilitate and speed up the process of manufacturing parts using CNC machines.
Avantages :
Easy to create the machining simulation and generate the CNC programming.
Inconvénients :
It has many important details at design time, which if not followed, the program does not proceed correctly to the later functions of simulation and generation of the CNC program.
Great software to learn in college, amazing staple for aerospace
Avantages :
I used this software in college and really enjoyed it. It can be difficult but the payoff is great. I also used it at JPL and I love that the analysis software, NASTRAN, is built in.
Inconvénients :
It can be difficult to learn, more so than Solidworks. But it does feel like it has more functionality.
A useful FEA tool for structural and mechanical engineering
Commentaires : More selective elements can be used for finite element modeling; A good combination with Dakota for design optimization of novel structures.
Avantages :
It has the most common features and functions for building 3D structural and mechanical models as in other widely used FEM software such as Ansys and SAP2000, but also it offers more options for modeling different contact type, which is suitable for modeling reinforced concrete structures for civil engineers. In the FEA aspect, it also provides different options for applied loads and constraints. Moreover, FEA results obtained from integrating NX and Nastran can be imported into some optimization tools such as Dakota, which enables users to optimize their design efficiently.
Inconvénients :
Models created from SolidWorks have some problems to be imported into NX; License for purchasing this software is always costly; Constraints applied to structures show ambiguity for different types.
NX CAD-CAM-CAE greatest software
Commentaires : I found Nx as one of the most complete CAE software in market. It has features that compete hand on hand with the rest of them, but Nx interface was friendlier.
Avantages :
I love the freindly interface compared with others, that are similars, I found Nx´s easier to understand.
Inconvénients :
I used to use Nx to learn mechanical design at school, with my university´s licence. So when i graduated I couldnt use it any more. And I dont like that its very expensive to regular users.
Good at surface modeling, bad at everything else
Avantages :
Surface modeling is a breeze in NX, I'll give it that.
Inconvénients :
Literally everything else is a chore. Making a sketch is hard. Measuring something is hard. Setting up hotkeys is a pain. You get the idea.
Good software
Avantages :
It organized your files that are shared by multiple users.
Inconvénients :
Not that friendly use. Need some getting used to use the system.
Good Experience
Commentaires : It is the best in its segment provides feature like vechicle modelling which are simply outstanding comparetely.
Avantages :
It offer fast, efficient and flexible product design. It has synchronous technology that allows to take data from other CAD system and integrate it.
Inconvénients :
Frankly speaking i didn't find any draw back in my usage only thing i felt is the optimisation issue
Powerful features and unique workflow
Commentaires : I took some time to get used to this workflow.
Avantages :
Good overall quality, features and functionality work well. Hybrid environment (part and assembly) is refreshment.
Inconvénients :
Different workflow takes some time getting used to. Standard version has limited features and workbenchs
